FAQ
How long does it last?
The duration of your microbladed brows will depend on how you maintain them. Usually they will last about 12-18 months before a touch up is required.
How long does it take?
The procedure takes roughly about 3 hours, depending on how you want your brows to be completed. Please allow a good 4 hour window for your appointment. We likely won’t need that much time, but Sophia likes to take all the time a client might need.
How often do I need a touch-up?
Touch-ups are recommended at your second session which is approximately 4-6 weeks after your initial session. This is to correct any parts which have faded during healing and to keep the color fresh and the strokes crisp. Some people can go longer before getting a touch-up, so it all depends on you.
Does it hurt?
It varies from person to person depending on the individual’s pain tolerance. Some people say that they do not feel anything and all, and some people say there is some discomfort associated with the procedure. A topical anesthetic is used to numb the area, and then reapplied as needed.
What should I do after the procedure?
Follow the aftercare instructions given to you. Do not expose your brows to hot steam, harsh sunlight or soak them in water (long showers, swimming etc). Refrain from strenuous activities (sport etc) that make you sweat. You can wash them gently with water and apply a very thin layer of pure Vaseline or Paw Paw cream.
Do I need to take time off from work?
No. There’s no downtime associated with the treatment. Redness and swelling will dissipate within an hour after. Your brows will appear darker initially, but not so dark that you will be prevented from your daily activities.
How long does it take to heal?
Healing time varies from person to person. Usually, it takes about a week to ten days for the epithelial crust to form and peel off (just like a tattoo). Your skin will be considered healed after that happens. Then, the pigment takes some time to settle into the skin. A good month should pass before we consider the process complete. Then, a second “perfecting” session is required to touch up any areas that may have faded during the healing process.
What’s the process like?
Microblading is a two step treatment, consisting of an initial procedure and then a perfecting touch-up after 4 to 6 weeks. We start off with a consultation, discussing your ideal shape, thickness and length. After we decide on the perfect eyebrows for you, we take your before photo, shape your eyebrows and decide on the colour. Shortly after that, a topical anesthetic will be administered to ensure comfort. Once you’re numb, the procedure begins and Sophia will implant the pigment into your epidermis. During healing, it’s normal to experience some pigment loss; this is why we have the touch up in place. The process is considered to be complete 4 weeks after the first touch up.
What can’t I do after the procedure?
The number one thing Sophia cannot stress enough is please DO NOT TOUCH your microbladed brows for at least 7 to 10 days! Touching your brows interrupts the healing process and you will be left with a less than desirable result once your brows have healed. You are also advised to keep the skin clean and dry (aside from washing gently once in the morning and once at night) — that means no swimming, sweating, tanning or prolonged sun exposure; no picking or peeling the tattoo. You can still wash your hair and face and once they’re healed up, you treat them as your own.
What if I don’t like it?
There are several things we can do. Your eyebrows can be modified to a point. Sophia will work with you until you are satisfied with your results. Additional charges may apply, however there will be no refunds on services already provided as materials were already used, and time set aside for our technicians.
